Juliet Reding Beckman’s work has appeared in JAMA, the Journal of the American Medical Association, The Midwest Quarterly, Hektoen International: A Medical Humanities Journal, Workers Write!, ACM: Another Chicago Magazine, 50 Word Stories, Progenitor and Pure Slush. Her short story, “Saarbrucken Witch,” took 3rd place in the British Fantasy Society Short Story Competition in 2012. She has two B.A. degrees from the University of California, Irvine–one in Political Science and one in English. She studied for a year at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques in Bordeaux, France, and later received her M.A. in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She is currently writing her dissertation on the ethics of ectogestation for her Ph.D. in Humanities and Technology from Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island. An avid traveler, she spends as much free time as possible visiting foreign countries and, when short on cash and time, visits museums where she admires foreign objets d’art and imagines herself in foreign countries. She is currently a faculty professor at Arapahoe Community College and teaches Literature, Humanities, and Composition. She lives in Denver, Colorado.
